Transfer Calls

Call transferring can be confusing to so we have provide the following help document to describe the different methods of transferring a call.

When transferring a call there are two types of transfer. The first being a supervised transfer and the second an unsupervised transfer.

supervised transfer allows the person transferring the call to talk to the person they intend to transfer the call to and let them know the call is being transferred before the call is transferred. The person transferring the call also has the option of not transferring the call.

An unsupervised transfer transfers the call directly without any interaction with the person the call is being transferred to.

All of our desktop phones transfer calls in the same manner. Transferring a call with am M9 phone requires a slightly different process.

Attended (Supervised) Transfer (Snom 710, 720, 760 821 & 870)

A supervised transfer is used when you want to talk to the person you are transfering the call to before the transfer is completed. In a supervised transfer you will have the option of not transfering the call after you talk to the person you intended to transfer the call to.

To perform a supervised transfer with a single call on your phone:

  • Place the current call on Hold.
  • Dial the extension or the phone number you wish to transfer the call to and press the dial or check mark button. The phone will ring.
  • If the person on this extension answers the call you can then talk with them and if they want the call then you simply press Transfer Twiceand the call will be transferred. You can now hang up.
  • If the person doesn’t answer the phone or they don’t want to take the call simply press X to disconnect the call.
  • The call will now be on hold and you can recover the call.

To perform a supervised transfer with one or more calls on your phone:

  • Place the current call on Hold.
  • Dial the extension or the phone number you wish to transfer the call to and press the dial or check mark button. The phone will ring.
  • If the person on this extension answers the call you can then talk with them and if they want the call then press Transfer, then use the navigation buttons below your screen to select the call you want to transfer and then press Transfer and the call will be transferred. You can now hang up.
  • If the person doesn’t answer the phone or they don’t want to take the call simply press X to disconnect the call.
  • The call will now be on hold and you can recover the call.

unSupervised (Blind) Transfer (Snom 710, 720, 760 821 & 870)

An unsupervised transfer is also referred to as a blind transfer. When you transfer the call with this method you will not have any confirmation that the call was transferred.

To perform an unsupervised transfer:

  • Press the Transfer button
  • Dial the extension you will to transfer to
  • Press Check Mark

Supervised (Attended) Transfer (Snom M9& M9R)

The M9 series of phones don’t have dedicated transfer and call control buttons so the process is a little different.

To perform a supervised transfer:

  • Dial the number or extension and the phone will ring and hopefully be answered.
  • If the call is not answered or the person doesn’t want the call then you can recover the call by pressing *0
